Announcements

Planning the Spring 2014 series takes place at 1.45 pm in the afternoons of the lectures this Fall. Come along in the afternoons and help sort through the mix of issues on the minds of women during the first couple of weeks and see how a new series will arise! Identify common issues and themes. Suggest speakers. Who knows? You could end up with an expert speaker giving a lecture on a topic very close to your heart.

The annual Board Election took place at the Advisory Committee meeting on 16th May 2013.
Charlene Brotman and Marcia Boehlke have been re-elected to serve on the Board for another two years. They will be joined by Sandy Wayne, Elaine Fisher and Martha Nielsen who all join the Board for the first time. Thank you to Judith Cohen, MaryMargaret Halsey, and Muna Killingback, whose terms of office are expiring and who have chosen to step down, for their service to WomenExplore. Prospective Board members should read more about the WomenExplore Board.
Paula Chandoha, Emmy Robertson, Mary Ann Serra, and Lindsa Vallee were elected a year ago and will continue on the Board for another year.   More about the WomenExplore Board.

A new element has been added to the WomenExplore day: Coffee, and tea, will be available between 11 am and 11.25am to encourage people to mingle and enjoy a little social interaction after they have registered. Do your part to conserve resources and bring your own cup!

WomenExplore is pleased to announce the appointment of our new Executive Director, Maria Kathleen Behnke, who will succeed Tracey L. Hurd. Raised in Kentucky and a graduate of Ohio University, Maria is a committed feminist and has been active in planning and executing women's rights programs. Since moving to the Boston area, Maria has been participating in WomenExplore and other outreach programs in Cambridge. Maria brings energy, passion, intelligence, and dedication: we are thrilled to have her at the helm! Come to a session this spring and meet her!

The WomenExplore Lecture and Discussion Forum's Time Schedule is designed to give working people an opportunity to attend the lectures during their lunch break. The main lecture will take place between 12 noon and 1pm.

TOP of My Mind, WomenExplore's Blog.   In October 2009 Cheryl Suchors took on the task of writing a blog on the topic of the week, starting with how we might respond to bullying. This was followed by postings on the stereotyping of women and the evolving meaning of feminism. We are hoping to stimulate a lively discussion around these issues and that the blog will provide a forum for the women of WE and the wider community. So please contribute your two bits — simply post your comments on the blog and add your voice to the dialogue.
As of Spring 2010 Cheryl stepped down as WE/TOP's regular blogger to set up her own blog. To fill in the gaps Cheryl has generously agreed to let us repost some of the posts from her multi-faceted blog (five blogs in one).
If you, too, would like to publish an item on TOP of My Mind please let us know. Email TOPWebMs at gmail dot com.
